“I honestly can’t say enough good things about Voila and their team. I’d love to do an event in Portland again just to be able to hire them…and of course enjoy their wonderful food.
Run down of the basics:
1. The food is amazing. Beyond that, it is distinctive enough to impress foodies, but not scare off the less adventurous. Further beyond that, the presentation is beautiful and makes the food look even more appetizing, yet not fussy.
2. They were a great partner. I didn’t feel like they gave me just a standard package out of a catalog, but rather put together a menu that was specific to my needs (I was looking for something that felt local, but not standard or boring). They also offered suggestions & tweaks to what i originally thought i wanted based on their experience in the area and my budget.
3. Efficient and timely. We had a tight set-up window, and even tighter set-up/staging space, they were able to make all work flawlessly.
4.The serving staff were all nice, helpful, courteous, etc.
5. Price-the cost was extremely, extremely reasonable.

“My husband and I recently used Voila Catering for our wedding reception at the Rose Garden Amphitheater. Voila was wonderful, not only was the service excellent but the food as delicious as I’d hoped for also. Our guests were very impressed with the food and everyone had a good time. We got so many compliments, and the waiting staff and Tamara were so professional and friendly, it really felt like a polished, elegant party which is exactly what we had hoped for.
I know in some of the reviews people indicated that they have strong opinions, but honestly his opinions were correct on the big day, and I was glad we went with most of his suggestions. Something as simple as his suggestion to order off white table linens instead of pure white so that the sun didn’t blind our guests reflecting off the linens. On the day of, the sun was very bright, and off white was certainly bright enough, I was SO glad we went with his suggestion. I was worried they wouldn’t look white enough, but they looked great. They really know their business. Lot’s of simple suggestions like that really made a difference in how enjoyable the day was, and how smoothly it went.
I was also really impressed with how tolerant Jonathan and Tamara were of my husband and I changing our minds or adding in new things right up to last minute. They were very polite and had excellent service in this regard. They helped us deal with last minute hiccups with solutions that worked wonderfully. They also allowed us to bring in a special kind of soda we wanted and coordinated a lot of extra things with other vendors that we needed, so that we didn’t have to think about those extra things and could just enjoy the day.

“We couldn’t be happier with Voila Catering and would recommend them to anyone planning an event in the Portland area. We live out of state, but were planning a small, 50 guest wedding in Portland. After deciding on Leach Botanical Gardens as our ideal venue due to size and location, we found Voila Catering recommended on Leach’s website. We were immediately impressed with Voila’s website as it was much more informative than other caterer’s websites. We continued shopping around but kept coming back to Voila’s website. Their overall philosophy appealed to us: they prepare food on-site, they use local/seasonal food when available and they attempt to keep costs down while providing quality food. I am often disappointed by food at weddings and I wanted food at our wedding that guests would rave about afterwards, without spending at an outrageous amount of money.
We contacted Voila and told them what we had in mind based on the example menus on their website. Jonathan sent us a suggested menu that fit our needs and worked with the few dietary restrictions of some of our guests.
We traveled to Portland 6 months before our wedding to meet with vendors. At Leach, we were told that they often work with Voila for events and had an excellent relationship with them. We found this encouraging. Next, we met with Jonathan at Voila’s headquarters, toured their facilities and tasted their food.
At the time, we were still deciding whether we needed a wedding planner. Jonathan did an excellent job of explaining why he doesn’t work with them and why they are not necessary, particularly for a small event like ours. Jonathan never gave us a “hard sell”, but we decided to book Voila on the spot and never thought about a wedding planner after that moment. Jonathan never tried to up-sell any services, if anything he tried to steer us towards decisions that would save us money. The price he quoted us was well within our budget, without us having to skimp on anything.
Jennifer was the on-site manager the day of the wedding and she did an excellent job of pulling everything together. Since our wedding was small and simple, we really didn’t need a wedding planner and she took care of coordinating everything. Our wedding went off without a hitch and we had no stress because Jennifer and the Voila team did such a good job. Their price was reasonable and we even received a small refund from them afterwards. Our most critical, foodie guests were impressed and we had exactly the wedding day we wanted. They were flexible with the schedule to accommodate a more comfortable dining environment in the slow-to-arrive shade, while miraculously ending on-time and without additional service charge…………………….The staff all responded with grace to several unexpected shifts in the day’s schedule. For all the wonderful food and service, one would expect the cost to be exorbitant. Paying for the great service and food wasn’t burdensome at all. We felt the cost was completely reasonable for all we received. We especially appreciated your willingness to accommodate the extra effort our location’s distance and amenities (or lack-there-of) presented. Without Voilà’s ability to cook food on-site, our guests would have been eating food prepared 40-60 minutes earlier, at best. We were very proud to offer freshly cooked food, as though we were hosting a dinner party at home. Amazingly, compared to the other companies available in the area (which did not provide freshly cooked food), Voilà’s prices were better!………………..Knowing that the staff were being paid an acceptable wage without tips made us feel better as well. Voilà clearly knows the way to provide the best service and food for a reasonable price. The photography and the food were our highest priorities in planning our event. Voilà made it possible to serve our guests two entrees with a family style service. It truly felt as though we were hosting the way we would have at home…if our home were in a Hollywood movie.
